Blue Sequins

by jennine on February 22, 2009

The last post was done in such a hurry, I totally forgot to post myself. According to some of the comments, I was being shy, but it wasn’t that… I promise, I’m not shy. It wasn’t because I didn’t like the photo either. Luckily, Agent Lover recommended the awesome Dustin Fenstermacher who did a great job of documenting our lovely little party. I know from experience, getting people to relax in front of a camera is really hard, even if it’s me behind the camera with a remote, it’s still hard.

For the party I wasn’t going to get something new. The last year has been really tough fiscally, making it difficult to indulge in a new dress here or there, but my birthday is coming up… along with this party, I decided that it would be wrong to show up at my own Dress Up party in nothing less than a festive dress.

With no time and little money, I popped into a Daffy’s in Brooklyn of all places. The place looks totally depressing, but I didn’t have a choice as I was staying in Brooklyn with my dear friend Drea and the party was only hours away. I scoured the dress rack, and not one would even do until I came across this beautiful sequin dress made in Italy. I can’t read the tag, so I don’t know who the designer is, but it was marked down, a lot, enough for this flea market queen to dole out without feeling bad. Plus this dress had ruffles AND pockets… my two favorite things.

Tomorrow I’ll be going to London for the Dress Up LONDON party, thanks so much to Mademoiselle Robot for making it all happen. She’s done a great, great, wonderful job in organising the whole thing.

And of course, I’ll have something to wear to this party too… but more on that later.

And lastly don’t forget to vote for your favorite outfit on the Dress Up NYC party!

what a pretty dress, and the color is great too! lovely detailing. sequins, ruffles and pockets? it’s a win win situation.

it looks chic, Jenine! For parties, it’s better to go for a little sequin dress. Sequins are budget buy, at least here.

How beautiful! It’s dramatic and sophisticated - but fun. Love that it has pockets. C’mon, tell us how much you got it for… It looks so luxe I can assure you it was a good deal.

That’s a lovley dress - I really like the ruffles! I feel a bit like a magpie at the moment - anything shiny and I can’t help but like it!
