Edgy Preppy

For a long time I’ve been trying to figure out what my “style” was. I’m not a badass, that’s for sure. I’m also not buttoned up and proper. One day while figuring out what I liked, it dawned on me that it lies somewhere between edgy and preppy. While it’s a trend that’s floating around it’s a nice place to be, because sometimes it’s good to be a lady, and sometimes it’s necessary to be a bit rock and roll.

These are my favorite black pumps. I finally bit the bullet and invested in a proper pair of high quality pumps. It was hard to find because a lot of heels these days are super high, and finding a good 3″ pump that isn’t totally frumpy is difficult. I highly recommend Yves Saint Laurent for this. These ones have been great and easy to wear all day.

This is a post I very much relate to. I don’t know what to say if/when people ask me what my style is. I’m not exactly one or another. Perhaps saying I’m eclectic is proper but I’m not always that either. haha…

And thanks for posting a close-up of those shoes! I’m in the same boat as you…I want to invest in a good pair of black pumps but also one that is 3″ but not kitten heel either. These YSL ones look really great!

Oh good, I thought I was going against the grain! Everyone wears such high heels, and it just doesn’t work where I live. Anyway, thanks for the comment.

Like you, I always feel my style has a dash of rock & roll and toughness, but isn’t entirely there… so this outfit totally appeals to the “in betweeny” in me!

You’re the master of different disguises! But yeah, it’s hard when you don’t fit into a particular mold. Or maybe that’s just the begining of the fun?

I am still trying to pin down exactly what my style is but I think you’ve cone up with a very accurate description for yours.

It is so nice to see a style blogger wear heels I can actually relate to. I love the look of a super tall heel but my feet just don’t tolerate them well. I am amazed by (and jealous of) people who can wear stilettos all day. I think 3″ is about the perfect height for most people but crazy hard to find these days.

Haha, I always wondered about those women who could wear tall heels all day. Don’t their feet hurt? Or are they just really tough?

Every girl needs a good pair of basic pumps! :D Love that jacket too!

I like this! Believe it or not, I have the same Zara jacket and I’ve been daydreaming about a similar ensemble for the last little while. :-)

I recently posted about having two (at least) women sharing space in my closet…all me, but different personalities. I like your version of ‘edgy preppy,’ very un-contrived and wearable. The shoes are superb. 3″ is the absolute highest I can go.

I love the jacket and shoes!
My style also tends to swing between different styles. I think it’s more fun that way. :)

Terrific outfit-I’m really loving all of the fantastic posts from you lately. I have a matte version similar to your pumps and I just love them.

A pair of good black pumps is an absolute essential. Thanks for sharing your find!! I just actually bought a pair yesterday, and I can’t be more happy - they go with everything. And that leather jacket is so good.

How cool! And, you are so right. The super-high heels that make every outfit look glam are so not practical for me, on a everyday basis. I kind of wish I was one of those super-tough ladies who claim they are more comfortable in heels anyway. Or like Beyonce, who legend has it, can jog in heels.

I recently got some similar pumps by Michael Kors and I love them but I’m still at the stage where they’re rubbing a bit - we’ll get there ;)

    I love this outfit!
But, may I ask, are those shoes really as comfy as you claim? It looks like you’ve got a blister :(
